Spring Cleaning? How about Spring Painting!
One of the most well-known springtime traditions in Western cultures is spring cleaning. Traditionally, spring cleaning was done for its practical purposes, with spring being the perfect season to do a thorough cleansing of the home because of the warm, dry, and often windy climate.
Because of these same climate conditions, many homeowners also choose to paint their homes anew in Spring. In fact, there are plenty of reasons why doing a paint job in Spring is a good idea. Read on to find out about them.
It’s not too cold in spring – Unlike in autumn and winter, temperatures during late springtime are not too cold. Ideally, you shouldn’t be painting when it’s 50ºF or colder because most paint products can’t be applied or won’t work well when the temperatures are too low.
It’s not too hot either –– Painting in mild weather conditions is ideal because the paint will not dry too quickly, unlike when you paint during very hot days. This means that the paint will be able to set properly. Paint that does not set correctly can end up having a faulty texture.
Moisture is not a problem – Moisture is not as prevalent in spring as it is in fall and during winter, when it snows in many areas. Always make sure that the surface you will be painting is dry. If it rains letting it dry out thoroughly for a day. Remember, however, that surfaces can get wet even when they are not exposed to snow or rain, like when dew forms during evenings or mornings.
Your house might really need new paint – Snow during the winter could have wreaked havoc on your home. Without a new coat of paint, architectural elements like those made of wood can begin to disintegrate. Springtime painting is a great way to renew your home’s beauty and material integrity.
>It’s comfortable out – Springtime balances the hot and the cold very well, so it’s a very comfortable season to do exterior painting. For one thing, the sun is not too powerful, so you won’t be exposed to too much heat. For another, the paint will not evaporate too quickly, making it safer for the house painter because they won’t be inhaling too much of the evaporating paint fumes.
Being Spring, it’s easy to get distracted by the many activities that the season makes available for everyone to enjoy. But before unwinding and taking in the warmth and vigor that Spring brings, why not pick up your brushes and rollers to complete the paint job you’ve always wanted to do? It’s the perfect time to do it.
